The range of Indonesian culture's diversity is the highest in the world, so that the role of culture is very important to build and advance the nation for creating citizen's morals character. In 2035, Indonesia will go through demographic bonus which is the citizen especially young generation will continue the rotation of this nation, beside, by the time that those things happen, there are no suffice facilities for developing the interest in arts and culture. Therefore made an Art Gallery and Culture Nusantara to answer the above problems. As the first gallery especially for the city of Surabaya and East Java, a gallery in increasing public interest requires adequate facilities, informative and interactive. In addition to this gallery environment can also support visitor activities. The atmosphere in the gallery is identical to the boring can be changed into an atmosphere that makes passive visitors become active so that all information to be conveyed can be absorbed maximally.
Starting from the problems above, the author will optimize through the interior design approach of a gallery in Surabaya. By presenting the interior design concept of "Modern Heritage", it is expected to provide a new and different atmosphere from galleries and cultural venues that already exist. By presenting the concept, it is hoped that this gallery can be utilized to be one of the destinations of educational tourism destination for families and for children, by utilizing innovation in technology aspect while maintaining and preserving Indonesian art and culture.
The design methodology includes the collection of the data which is held directly or indirectly. Primary data was gotten through the field survey at several galleries and museums in Surabaya to find out the existing conditions. More-over interviews and questionnaire analysis aims to determine the desires and expectations of visitors. Secondary data is obtained through various sources of books, magazines and journals as complementary data.
The presented concept in this gallery is to create an interior atmosphere that is far from the boring impression by adapting the character of today's society, both in terms of interactive information media although the layout of collection displays become informative, but still not eliminate the cultural elements in each collection exhibited.
