Pixel..perfect, an internship report on Supersteil
During the three-month period between August and December, I had my third-year internship at Supersteil, an internet agency based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

As part of this internship, I had to produce an internship report, highlighting the cases I worked on, the history and future prospective of the company and a little bit of self-reflection. Since I've never really adventured into the wonderous world of print/editorial design, I desided to challenge myself with creating an awesome, visual fest of a report.

I based the overall theme of the report on pixel-perfection, a term I wasn't accustomed to when I first started interning at Supersteil. This quickly changed though, as I learned how valuable it was to truly create pixel-perfect designs and how this could be achieved. Within no-time, I had incorporated pixel-perfection in my standard workflow.

With the use of two simple black squares, I thematized the entire report. They're found on the cover, the backside, as glyph next to page numbers, and also on places you wouldn't expect, or spot them initially.

The other main focus on the design of this report relied on the use of color. I created a palette ranging from soft blues, yellow and reds to dark blacks, purples and greens. I wanted to create a big distinction between photographs and actual visuals, by converting all photographs to black and white. This created great contrast when used with typography.

In the end, I felt I had met my challenge. Editorial design is nowhere close to interaction design (my forté), but it's definitely a very vivid and complex branch to explore. I'm hoping that I will be able to master these skills some more over the years.
