ArtBlock TV artwork
I did an artwork for an upcoming episode of ArtBlock, an art and lifestyle magazine TV show that focuses on the building blocks and challenges of art, assuring viewers thorough ideas, coverage, and content that is fun, informative, and original. ArtBlock showcases stories of new budding, emerging as well distinguished artists, with a spotlight on inspiring dimensions from the art scene. Their first episode aired on June 4,2018 in the SocialTV channel here in the Philippines.

Since I was given a chance to be one of the featured artist I tried to do little artwork for it. My concept for this piece would be a battle for the 'ArtBlock' symbol of two different factions of monsters (and machines) where everyone is to get hold of the title. The reason would be still unknown.
Below is the details of how I did the project from start to finish!
Close up look of the sketch. I sketch lightly on the Khadi Paper since it's my first time trying to ink one.
Initial outline inking. I only use 0.1 Unipin. I keep everything flat for the outline so the page would look somewhat 'busy'.
Close up shots of the details in ink!
Slowly filling up the pages!
Waiting for some parts to dry before I erase some pencil lines and also add some details and re-ink some lines.
Close up shot after finished rendering and added some little details to my work.
Almost finished adding the extra details for the piece.
Finally finished the inking phase on Khadi Paper! Now time to scan and digitally render this piece.
Here is the progress .gif of my whole drawing! From the sketch up to the digital rendering.
The dark version which is inspired by some packaging from McDonald's
I chose to create a dark version because it is kind of neat and shows of the vibrancy of color and really gives a different mood to everything. Like the doodle was suspended in some kind of trance.
The light version which color palette was inspired from a Cartoon Network promotional video!
(I love how that this color palette reminds of old packaging of candies here in the Philippines. It gives a nostalgic retro vibe)
Here is the behind the scene shoot of my feature for "On-The-Spot" segment of the ArtBlock TV PH.
Thank you for viewing!
