“wily, can-do WPAs”

I have been in Sacramento at the CWPA conference most of this week, so while our task wasn’t that difficult, It took me a bit to figure out exactly how to represent this group. This is the conference where I’ve felt the most welcomed and accepted for who I am: a dedicated, committed, disabled, wannabe WPA. Even when I felt marginalized because I cannot hear in the Ballroom, I have colleagues who have been there to give me a hug or remind me that if I don’t self advocate, nobody else is going to. And though I’m sad that I’m leaving tmrw because I have to return to a state and a school that is not supportive at all, I will look forward to next year as I reflect on what I’ve learned.
