    An attempt at matte painting, using a photograph I took of an ice covered lake. Digital manipulation was used to create the cliffs, and high peaks. It was then painted over, with the mammoths added. It depicts a scene which would have been a common sight when mammoths crossed frozen lakes. Read Less

A Woolly Mammoth's fate is sealed as it crashes through the ice of a frozen lake, some fifty thousand years ago. 
Paleoart Matte painting. 
Many mammoths met their end this way. Their amazingly well preserved remains were to be uncovered many thousands of years later in ancient frozen river beds.
