This is a dance design project for The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky. Set in ‘the world of big data’, the project is an exploration of ballet’s contemporary interpretation. Diversity and ambiguity in social identity are investigated. The concept of the firebird is inspired by androgynism. Performed by a male dancer, the character is a mysterious and powerful creature with seductive beauty exceeding gender attributes.
