I was commissioned by a local brewery in Green Bay, WI to design a poster that could market their British Invasion concert that they were holding on their Roof Tap bar overlooking the skyline of Green Bay. This would serve as the backdrop for the evening and inspiration of the event poster. 

I wanted to have a lot of fun with this but a huge priority of mine was to shy away from the British cliches - Union Jack in particular. 

Using a more modern approach to the main imagery, I present the Big Ben clocktower, Titletown Brewing Co.'s clocktower, as well as the Titletown smokestack in an altered retro, British color palette. I cleverly converted the smokestack into a guitar by adding a Fender Stratocaster headstock to the smokestack.

Additionally, I tapped into the era with the "British Invasion" logo that was inspired by a British amplifier company, Orange. This set the tone for the groovy event logo front and center. Sticking to the style of the era, I laid out the band listing and event details by researching early 60s gig posters which featured hand settype hence the rough tracking and kerning. Also, I added a screen printed texture to the poster to make it more visually interesting and to drive the concept home.
