C4D Basecamp - School of Motion - 2018

C4D Basecamp / School of Motion / Spring 2018
This course was meant for people with little to no knowledge in the 3D world. It was a great and crazy challenge, I hardly had any experience and this course did wonders. It was super intensive but awesome experience.
#12 // The Ultimate Project - 3 Camping Tips //
Here I present you the final project! We had to design a 15 seconds ad for a fictional company and create everything from modeling, lighting, texturing to animating and compositing based on a storyboard/animatic and voiceover they provided. It was such an amazing experience. Still have a lot to learn but this was a huge step!!
The Ultimate Project Process
#10-11 // Rock'Em Sock'Em - Knock Out Composition //
I couldn't actually finish this one but I wanted to add it anyways to show the complete course. This exercise had two parts, first we had to animate the camera with smooth movements and then we learned how to take this to After Effects for compositing. The idea was to add some UI with data behind the robots and 2D elements to highlight parts of the scene. Before this assignment I got caught up in some client work and got behind with the lessons so I deiced to go on and move to the Ultimate Test.
#9 // Your Inner Spielberg //
For this assignment we had to focus on camera shots and depth of field. They gave us the scene layout and soundtrack to work on a 8-Bit theme intro. Pretty fun!
#7-8 // We Build This City - Hustle And Bustle //
This challenge was double. We had to model a city first, parallel perspective style. We were provided with some of the assets (building stories, donut shop, cars and trees. I modified some of them to fit my style but it's a 99% from our awesome teacher EJ Hassenfratz) and we had to use cloners and effectors to start building. Then in a second part, we had to animate this beast with all the knowledge we had acquired up to that moment. Awesome challenge, at this stage I was already completely in love with the software.

#6 // Up In The Air //
For this assignment we learned how to make an object follow a spline. We where provided with all the scene elements with colors and textures but we had to create our own path and loops and apply physics to the animations.
#5 // It's A Trap //
This challenge was all about animation and materials, they gave us the assets in C4D
and we had to light and texture the scene and make the characters interact with the trail trap.
#4 Make It Shiny
In this assignment we learned how to use materials to give colors and textures to the objects and light the scene to make it seem real, using bright colors, reflections, soft boxes and HDR Images.
#3 // Light It Up //
This challenge was all about lights and how to stage them to create different moods (1. Sci-Fi / Vibrant - 2. Morning Talk Show / Cheerful - 3. Late Night Show / Spotlight - 4. Film Noir / Mysterious). No color materials where used for this assignment, only colored lights and other techniques to set the mood of the scenes.
// All Caught Up //
After learning about lighting and texturing, we got a catch up week (phew! there are two, just in case!) where we had to use the same scene from before but bring it up a little bit using materials, reflective textures, colors, lights and HDR images.
#2 // Super Modeling Challenge //
Oh, this was an absolute challenge. The assignment was to create a Nintendo console – plus cartridge and control – from one primitive object using all the modeling tools. Crazy job!
This one was the cartridge we had to model during the lesson.
#1 // Be Kind, Please Rewind
For this assignment we learned how to use splines to create more complex objects and also how to use the pen tool to spell words and simulate a ribbon. For me a VHS tape is kind of nostalgic, that's why I came up with "Never Forget".
#0 // Your Favorite Place //
We had to create our favorite place with basic knowledge on the first week of the course. I decided to make a concert venue cause I love live rock music. Everything had to be done with primitive objects and a 5 color palette. After I created the stage and inside the place, our teacher EJ Hassenfratz challenged me to design people out of primitive object, then voilà!
SoM T-Shirt
I won a School of Motion T-shirt and a student spotlight on their Facebook page because of my performance :)
