Bagpipes – Infographic

The Brief

Design an infographic poster that presents the story, experiences, achievement or any interesting facts about an invention from one of the three categories–medical equipment, local delicacies (Singapore or Malaysia), musical instruments. Make use of at least two infographic frameworks–spatial, chronological or quantitative.

Research + Process

This infographic explores the use and significance of bagpipes in war battles, especially in World War I. The aim of centering this infographic around this topic is to raise the awareness of how the brave pipers would go into battles unarmed and only carrying the instrument, as a source of motivation for the soldiers.

Muted colours were chosen as the colour scheme, along with smoke in the background to portray a war scene. The piper in the poster is portrayed as the main focus as he is the subject of the infographic. This infographic uses both the chronological and quantitative frameworks, to tell the stories of the pipers and compare the percentage of deaths between pipers and soldiers.
