LEFT BEHIND
Calcutta 2006-2011

LEFT BEHIND is a series of color photographs about the disappearance of the Communist Party in West Bengal, India, (where it was in power for 34 years) through the gradual degradation of its painted symbols on the walls of Calcutta (Kolkata).
Beyond being just an homage to the skills of the painters and to the beauty of the wall's textures, the process of the hammer and sickle fading out and becoming increasingly abstract over time is a melancholic metaphor to the failure of the left in power and, more largely, to the loss of its humanistic ideals in today's world.

LEFT BEHIND is a pocket format book of 37 photographs published in Paris, France, in 2017,
by SquareZebra Books.

Distributed in France & India, it's available for sales on request. 8€
