Nel territorio del Franciacorta si producono grandi vini fin dal sedicesimo secolo. Uno studio effettuato sul Catasto Napoleonico del 1809 certifica l’esistenza di quasi 1000 ettari vitati ben superiori alle necessità dei circa 40.000 abitanti e destinati quindi alla vendita. La sua storia moderna comincia nel 1961, con 11 produttori, 29 ettari di vigneto e una produzione di 2 mila ettolitri di Pinot di Franciacorta.
Great wines have been produced in the region of Franciacorta since the sixteenth century. A study carried out on the Napoleonic land register of 1809 certifies the existence of almost 1000 hectares of vines, which would have been well above the needs of the 40,000 inhabitants, and therefore clearly destined for sale. Its modern history began in 1961, with 11 producers, 29 hectares of vineyards and a production of 2000 hectolitres of Pinot di Franciacorta.
