The Ghost Women of Milano

A project in pairs. The brief was to design a deck of cards following a theme related to the city of Milan, so we chose to research the stories of the ghosts haunting the city.
We found plenty, and most of them were women, so we picked four -one for each suit- and developed a numbering system for each story.

Cards 1 to 10 depict a symbolic element from the story, the “jack” is the ghost story written down, the “queen” the ghost lady herself, the “king” the location she haunts.
The cards are printed with white ink on heavy black satin paper.
The box is, of course, shaped as a casket where the deck lays wrapped in a black shroud. The case is completed with a paper slip introducing the deck.
