Over on Instagram, the people at Goodtype run a design challenge called #GoodtypeTuesday. This one was about the balance of opposites. Linking two opposing words with two different styles of lettering. I chose to do Quiet and Loud. Loud obviously brings out the idea of being bigger than the word 'quiet'. I didn't want to make it so it seemed like it was shouting but the wobbly lines give it a bit of movement. Quiet is drawn in a soft cursive style on a flag to help fill the gap and to give the sense of movement by a gentle breeze.
I really enjoyed drawing the wobbly letters of 'loud' so wanted to replace the flag with the word 'quiet' in this style.
