After completing several furniture pieces in wood, I found a need for a conistent way to sign my work.  Referencing the history of silversmith's trademarks and the asthetic of Arts and Crafts movement typograpy, I developed an identity for my work and modeled it in Rhinocerous 3D.  It has been sent to Shapeways to be 3D printed in stainless steel.  More pictures soon.  
The brand burned into a piece of maple.  This initial test shows how important it is to set the temperature correctly as to no overburn the subtrate.
