Mad Cool Identity 2018 Case Study

This is an experimental branding case study inspired by the Mad Cool music festival in Madrid, Spain. It is an attempt to reimagine the festival's image while combining the essence of Mad Cool's history, guests, and lineup.
Initial Sketching
When I was initially concocting ideas for this project I wanted to focus on a central theme and something that kept coming back into my brainstorm was the idea of nostalgia. When it comes to music, Madrileños are a particularly sentimental people - they love their throwbacks. And the Mad Cool festival brings this nostalgia to the forefront, specifically with their headliners. Nothing says "I'm a product of the 90's" quite like a hearty serving of Jack White and Pearl Jam with a side of MGMT. The theme of nostalgia is represented through a synth wave style of line work accompanied by a bright/neon/primary color scheme.

Building on nostalgia as a theme I also wanted to combine this with a truly "cool" vibe - this took the form of a space-related influence, drawing upon the 90's synth wave style of design.

Final poster design:
Merchandise samples: stickers and T-shirts
And that's a wrap! Thank you for checking this out!
