Flor de Caña - Spresso

Spresso is Flor de Caña’s coffee liqueur, made with a smooth finish and aromatic scent to add a new, creative and attractive option for its youngest consumers, ages 23-28. The product is meant to be consumed as a shot during celebratory events or chilled on the rocks.  The challenge was to design the packaging of the bottle and complementary products to compete against liqueurs such as Jagermeifter, Fireball and Kahlua.

We focused on Spresso’s principal characteristic; its coffee taste. For this reason we proposed that the bottle be presented in a package with a shape very similar to the typical organic coffee bags distributed in points of sale. The package itself has a black background with gold type and a drawing of a coffee plant. The label of the bottle is presented through a cutout in the shape of a coffee cup and the way you open the package resembles that of opening a coffee bag.

Along with the package, there was a second strategy worked on in order to further compete in the market. We worked on product design for both shot glasses, shot glass trays and an Spresso Coffee Cart for sponsored events. Spresso’s coffee taste remained at the center of our ideas, and we presented three different styles of shot glasses in the shape of coffee cups, the tray it would be served on and a cart modeling a Coffee Machine at the serving station.

The final product stands out from other liqueur packages as it has an original shape. Potential buyers would be surprised to see a coffee bag sold in the liquor section, and Spresso would catch their attention.
