We all grew up with Annie M.G. Schmidt her children’s books in The Netherlands. This is why i think she has a very special place in our hearts. Growing up the humour within her books is as funny for adults as for children. Next to her books, Annie wrote a lot of lyrics for well known dutch songs, with the same humour. The pigheaded and racy nature of Annie was the inspiration for this identity. The Annie M.G. Schmidt Prijs (Annie M.G. Schmidt award) is an annual cabaret award. Amongst others, people like Bram Vermeulen, Maarten van Roozendaal, Lenette van Dongen, Daniël Lohues, Gerard van Maasakkers, Wende Snijders have been awarded with the  prestigious Annie M.G. Schmidt prijs.
