3DS Hair & Fur (default tools)

Process of an exercise I did for my students to show how to quickly do hairstyles, in 3DS Max without plugins (just default tools, and render in VRay). 

Process: 1- Model the shape of the hair; 2- make splines from the mesh; 3- use a low poly proxy to grow hair, with the splines as guides, for EACH polygon; 4- export hair as splines and apply hair&fur to them (every hair keeps the same scale); 5- adjust frizz and other parameters 
As a suggestion of one of them, they wanted a combed hair following the style of the characters of Final Fantasy or the new Overwatch, so it's loosely based on the hairstyle of "soldier76" mixed with Japanese cartoons  
I always try to make my students understand the foundations of every concept and to try stuff, so that they learn how to think and solve problems without being dependent of specific tools or processes, or to don't panic when something doesn't work as planned.
