Personal Visual Manifesto

My ultimate aim for this project was to collaborate my painting and graphic
design, drawing inspiration from the Marvel art team and my penchant for
painterly realism. Majority of my graphic design works are created in
Illustrator, whereas my digital paintings are created in Photoshop, so my
challenge was to create a cohesive piece that combined these two very
different styles together within a digital painting. This was a hurdle that took
some time to realise how I could blend the two styles together, and I found
myself time constrained. As a result I compromised on the design elements I had originally intended and went for simpler elements that I knew would look cohesive, but were not what I would normally include in a character painting. I also wanted to push myself to create more art, and improve my technique and style.

As a designer and artist, my goal is to be versatile. I’m not sure where I want
to head, exactly, but I have done concept art for animation, as well as graphic
design, and I feel this is probably something I would like to continue to do. I
want to continue refining my technique, gain more confidence in my skills in
both art and design, and be able to utilise my different abilities for a broader
range of projects.
