“Astra” by The Retuses / Album Artwork
 

A self initiated series of illustrations based on a music album called “Astra” by Russian band The Retuses. I am a big fan of this album, but I don't like the original artwork. So I decided to make my own version of it.

 

Album “Astra” has a cross-cutting theme, all the songs are connected with each other and named after the constellations. The word “Astra” means “flower” in Russian and “star” in Latin (“Per aspera ad astra”). The album is full of symbolism, so I decided that a star is the most suitable and ancient symbol for a name of the album. — Mikhail Rodionov, The Retuses
