THE EAR PROJECT
by Heather McLeod
You can tell so much about someone by their ears. In addition to the size, shape, and color, people adorn their ears with earrings and tattoos that become very reflective of the individual. We are so accustomed to thinking about the eyes, nose, and mouth when it comes to portraiture but I feel that the ears say just as much if not more.

I see each ear painting as an individual portrait. When they're grouped together, similarities and differences between gender, race and character are revealed. In a time when people are often separated by physical characteristics, I hope this project makes people think about identity on a broader scale.

This is an ongoing project.
