Rock Climbing for Beginners
Business executive Brian Vanderburgh, who has overseen the completion of large sections of the Las Vegas hotel/casinos Treasure Island and the Bellagio, leads hospitality construction for Hedrick Brothers Construction. In his free time, Brian Vanderburgh is an avid rock climber.

Newcomers to the sport of rock climbing must complete significant practice and training before attempting their first serious climb. For most people, this means attending climbing classes through a reputable organization and/or practicing extensively with a skilled climber either inside on a climbing wall or outside on moderately sized boulders.

After they have acquired the specialized knowledge and physical capabilities that are necessary to complete a climb safely and effectively, novice rock climbers must find a guide who is qualified to lead them on their chosen excursion. New rock climbers must also ensure that they have adequate climbing gear and know how to use it. Although first climbs should be relatively easy and straightforward, rock climbers should always wear specialized rock climbing shoes, a climbing helmet, and a climbing harness complete with waistbelt and leg loops.
