In Northern Europe the holidays are observed as the holiday known as Yule. Much of the motifs associated with the modern Christmas originates with the Yule tradition such as Santa Claus, trees, holly and the Yule log. 

 

The Yule Goat is the symbol worshipped during Yule Tide. Carved goat figures are used to decorate the home.
