Skolkovo exhebition

Design for a hi-tech expo, held in the Skolkovo Exhibition Center, just outside of Moscow, Russia. Expo design included public space, stand and furniture design, as well as navigation. There is a public space/information section at the entrance that can be used as a meeting point for visitor and advertise the exhibitors.
Smaller tenants occupy their spots in the modular section of the expo. They are also comprised of metal carcases and fabric. Each stand in this section is 8 m2 on average.
Navigation is a big part of the exhibition design. It organically connects all the parts of the exhibition and stays with the visitor as travels throughout the expo. Visitors intuitively follow the lines on the floor to get them to the main exhibitors, food courts or lounge area. Those lines seamlessly go up on the side of the stand, changing from horizontal to vertical, symbolising the denial of gravitation and exit into space.
Six main exhibitors (the largest Russian companies working in hi-tech, both private and state-owned) would occupy six largest stands of the exhibition, 70 to 100 square metres each. Despite their size, the constructions don’t look hefty for they are comprised of light metal carcass wrapped in translucent fabric. Logos and slogans can be printed directly onto the fabric, as well as mapped with a laser spotlight. The stands of the main exhibitors are lit from the inside, and the change of hue can dramatically change the appearance of the stand and the atmosphere around it.
