About.. 3 months ago I heard sad news from America. It was 22yo man who's name is Stephon Clark killed by shot from police coz they thought the man was holding a gun but it was iphone.
I searched some about the situation and I found that the man had some criminal records or some stories.. but I think that cannot be an excuses for the kill. Above all things, I so shocked about the clips which cop recorded at the killing moment. Actually I have some black friends and they are very kind (maybe their would be bad black people but it's case by case). And I know their apparently exist discrimination to black people. In that moment I was so in it and started to draw.
Basically I tried to make this drawing as a poster so did think it should be simple. I searched few core images and started draw fast.
The sketch was easy coz the purpose was clear. I can draw only one thought of mine. But at least tried to make this powerful in coloring step.
Maybe for the color blood, I thought that this went to serious already. But in the pattern of tile somewhat seemed like bathroom's.
And put a gun in screen but I thought more front view will be more powerful.
Changed gun's view more to front-side, Made more clear of lines, ground. Put his name under the drawing.(Stephen -> Stephon). But still I thought gun's part is somewhat unpleasant. To make more clear that iphone was aiming cops, tried to change full front view.
I think this is more nice! And now I have things to do.. gun's part more clearly, textures on some where, still hand looks not good so.. it's about 75% finished yet.
Tried to make more look-like screen. But in this drawing, photoshop effect would be too much. Well.. let's do more.
Finally I put normal glass's reflection on it. And added textures, some color changed to more vividly and many small things before finishing. Almost done!
Now it's finished. Made by Adobe Photoshop CS3, 253 layers, 1 weeks. 23 x 29 inches. Thank you for watching!
*Obviously in our lives there must be many obstacles.. we already have tough lives.. so at least I hope that we shouldn't hate each other coz out time for goal is not enough already. I'm not sure you got what I meant or not coz my English isn't good haha.. Well, Let's do out best! and rest in peace Stephon.
