Bonsai & Geronimo go to the park

Conceived, produced and published by the agency, the story is the first in a series aimed at teaching children important life lessons through the eyes of two adorable pet poodles in an engaging, entertaining way.
Designed as a literacy tool, the app features a read to me option - narrated by the legendary Cedric Samson - that includes highlighted text synchronized with the narration to facilitate word recognition. As well as the narration, the record my voice option provides unique audio functionality that allows you to record and play the story back to your children in your own voice in the accent they are familiar with, so children need never go to sleep without hearing their parent’s voice again.

These read to me and record your own voice functions also allow children to actively assess how their reading skills are progressing as they read, record and play back each page of the story. Numeracy and perception skills are encouraged in a fun mini-game wherein readers attempt to find the teddies hidden in every page. Also discover surprising audio hotspots in each scene while exploring the park with Bonsai and Geronimo.This iPad app is available in the Apple app store and soft-cover book at good bookstores nationwide.

The Bonsai and Geronimo go to the Park project was selected by the Mayor’s World Design Capital Task Team as one of six pieces to represent Cape Town in Helsinki in September 2012. Cape Town participated in the ‘Everyday Discoveries’ exhibition as part of a World Design Capital 2012 signature event and introduced itself as Design Capital of the World 2014 to a international audience at this exhibition.
