Design Challenge: NTUC Website Redesign

VISUAL DESIGN CHALLENGE

Identifying points for improvement:

Two problems I noticed on the landing page are the secondary menu on the left and the login buttons on the right.

Suggested Solutions:

Fixing the site navigation by utilizing a clearer menu bar with interactive tabs that can be applied universally on all sub pages will help users direct themselves easier to a certain page.

Changing the menu bar color to a more neutral tone rather than a striking, red bar helps with readability as well. It also prevents it from being too distracting, leading the focus of users toward the actual page content.

To put across more information about the key pages that were previously listed on the left-hand side, the use of the site’s slideshow landing page would be a better channel to catch users’ attention. Starting with the “Membership” panel—which will display relevant offers and membership privileges—will also help achieve the objective of converting new users to members.

In the interest of increasing the number of new users to be an NTUC member, it is best to showcase and inform website visitors of the substantial benefits gained from being a member. The redesigned membership info page is divided into four easy-access tabs, with the first tab being a scroll-through page experience where the user will be able to learn these benefits.

This is a simplified layout that caters to non-members first, contrary to the existing layout where the information regarding membership benefits is intermingling with links and pages that more or less serve existing members better.
