When it comes to quality over quantity the Moldavian winemaker Equinox VieVin has already earned a strong reputation, both among wine drinkers and makers alike. And this is a no mean feat in a country that prides itself over its rich winemaking traditions and actually considers wine a national product of strategic importance. All this has been achieved through the hard work and devotion of the man behind the brand, Constantin Stratan, who methodically takes the wine from grapevine to glass and crafts some truly amazing varietals and blends.

I've visited Constantin at his new production facility near Chisinau, Moldova recently where I was able to capture some of his newest wines and also take some portraits of the man himself. With only a single speedlite and a simple modifier, this wasn't a simple task, but quite fun at the same time. Trying to capture the spirit of craft winemaking, I've focused on the thing that matters the most - the wine itself.
