Beso De Sol is a mezcal concept brand rooted in honoring the process and taste of the sacred agave drink. Mezcal is a distilled beverage made from the cooked saps of various maguey plants, or agave. Historically this beverage dates back to pre-hispanic, indigenous traditions of the Americas where drinking a variant of the beverage was often connected with spiritual rituals.
The label was developed with the concept of having a mezcalero resting tirelessly while the Sun continued to beat down on him, kissing his skin with hot rays. As a means of truly enjoying the beverage it is often advised to sip or kiss the drink rather than taking it as a shot like tequila. The aspect of kissing and keeping a smooth demeanor played into the actual name of the beverage, Beso De Sol, which translates to sun kiss.
A detailed illustration was developed with a modern black letter type lockup to evoke a new brand with an old heritage feel. Minimal color use was essential in keeping the look classic while modern icons of a kissing sun and heat waves were developed to stay current.
