Voice-powered Smart Ring
ORII is a smart ring that allows the user to handle phone calls just by touching the fingertip to the ear. ORII uses Bluetooth technology to connect to the user’s phone, and advanced bone conduction technology to relay sound. Sound is transformed into micro-vibrations that travel from the ring to the tip of the user’s finger, and from the tip of the finger to the inner ear through the bones of the skull. Two built-in microphones capture the user’s voice during calls and to access Apple or Google assistants when needed. The ring is made of aluminum, it is replaceable and it is available in US sizes 6-11. The casing that contains the electronic components is made of polycarbonate to ensure water-resistance and maximum protection. The casing cover is made of scratch-resistant anodized aluminum and is available in four matte-finish colors. ORII offers a new and intuitive way of handling calls that requires few, simple and discreet gestures. At a time when texts, chats, instant messaging and other visual technologies have almost replaced oral communication, the ORII ring gives us back the power and individuality of our voice. ORII won the 2018 iF Design Award. Photography: Chow Wing Sing.
