For the fourth month of my third year of EVRYDYS I recreated letter forms of famous Marvel Comics logos.
I had been wanting to do an alphabet project like this for awhile. I've been into comics for decades now, and it was studying them growing up that lead me to get into design. It was also a good daily exercise to get back into using things like the pen tool and shape builder tools.
It was really interesting doing these to find the little details that I thought would be consistent were off slightly due to so many of these being hand drawn and eyeballed back in the day. For example- the shadows on the "F" in Fantastic Four don't totally match up. Same with Spider-Man.
Since there were more days in the month than letters in the alphabet, I went back and did some alternates featuring titles that were either personal favorites or I simply missed in doing the research the first time around (Or in the case of "L" I actually did two for that day since I couldn't decide which I liked more. I tried to keep the colors consistent since I had the idea to maybe turn this into a screen print down the line. It was a fun project that made me even more appreciative of logos that I've seen thousands of times before.
