“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown”

Many times we feel fear. Many times we feel like we want to do something but we can't, something is blocking us. This thing is not fear, it's you. The whole point is to learn to do what you want to do regardless the fear, because he will always be there, guiding you in the right direction and helping you to see what is really important. The fear is not the problem, the problem is our relation with fear, the fact that we associate fear with negative emotions - so we try to hide it, ignore it, distract ourselves from it, suppress it, fight with it. Because of the way we think about it, it actually becomes a problem, so we fight with it even more. Anything that requires that much energy from us will be seen as unpleasant. Will be seen as a problem. We find ourselves in a self fulfilling prophecy, a big spiral that goes on and on. The problem is not the fear, it's the fact that instead of feeling the emotion and letting it flow through us, we grabbed it, put a label on it and decided that it's bad. The moment we did it, we started a fight - a fight with ourselves, with the things our parents taught us about that label, things that society tells us about it, we think all the books we've read, everything we heard about it, all the meanings, stories and memories attached to it. No wonder that we have no energy, that we feel exhausted. Because deep inside we know that it's futile, that we cannot win. There are only two choices that we have here - we can fight, or we can let go and surrender. When we finally do it, we will see that there was no enemy. Nothing. And what we finally see is peace that was underneath all the time. We never lost it. It's always there.
