SOVEREIGN PARK - EASTBOURNE, EAST SUSSEX, UK
A THEORETICAL FINAL MAJOR PROJECT FOR COLLEGE.
DURING THE PROCESS - I kept a sketchbook and displayed this below to see a representation of how my idea from the context came about.
firstly i took the original sovereign park, located at the seafront of Eastbourne, UK. this park still is used daily for dogs and young children and residents and tourists alike who walk along the promenade however the state (above) of the park was not the best and was not kept the best. so in the process of this design i took inspiration from the stones on the beach and tried to make the space cleaner and more of a place to walk freely across and interact with.
i loved how the space worked and saw the potential. with the inspiration from stones i used throughout the park and this concept would only be seen form an aerial view and long distance which was the initial concept - to difference the large and small scale from detail to afar.
the stones were collectively put together and overlapped to form a shape and outlined for the path. shape for the roof of the restaurant and spaces. and generally the spaces should feel at one with the seafront which this location is placed. just with more grass instead of a beach of stones, ironically.

THE MODEL CONCEPT - the model help provide a pyshical form of the concept and in the images below you can see the distance between the house and local residential area to this park. the red circle shows the restuarant thwich is the main focus but not fully developed. the green circle represents the reground which can be seen in images below.
THE PATHS LEADING TO A PUBLIC BUT HIDDEN OPEN SPACE WITH WALLS. THIS SPACE IN INITIALLY ENTAILED FOR THE TEEN LOCALS WHO DO NOT USE THE SKATE PARK BUT TO RESPECTFULLY USE THE SPACE AS THEY PLEASE WHETHER THIS INCLUDES GRAFFITI OR JUST A SPACE TO CHILL.
THE SPACE INCLUDES BENCHES AND SHADE FOR DAYS SUCH LIKE LOCAL EVENTS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES AND MEETUPS.

this was a half digital and technical project and purely theoretical for my final major project for college. i understand this is not finished and would like to one finish this project off in detail as this space alone has a lot of potential and as my hometown i want to grow the space so future generations and tourists can use a space which is decent and enjoyable.
