The state exists visually, as long as its symbol exists.
Noticing this by walking in Google Street View, I chose spaces that are free of any state identification and then artificially placed flags in them. They repeat the background of the place itself, thus indicating symbol's temporality and suggesting to discuss its visual impact on the urban landscape.
