First Line Drawing: As an avid music lover, I became frustrated with having my earbuds constantly ripped from my ears during physical tasks. This was the first line drawing that I came up with for the concept. From this linedrawing template, I made the first prototype with a cottage cheese container lid, an exacto blade, hot glue and two mighty magnets.
First Concept Rendering; Once the concept was proven with my handmade protype, I rendered the product in Illustrator and worked with a manufacturer to have some actual prototypes produced.
Spine Channel Detail: A spine was added to the back to create a channel for the cord to flow through.
Second Round Concept: From the manufacturer's prototype, it became clear that the slits in the center were too weak and with testing, many of the units ripped at these weak corners.
Rendering of Revised iSnap: The tension of the spine being shut created a snug fit on the cord.
iSnap in Use Drawing: Illustrator drawing I did from a photo from one of the actual manufacturer's prototypes.
