Predecessor to the American Rodeo

What began as a curious look into a sport I was unfamiliar with became a fascinating journey into the world of the Charro and Charra (Mexican cowboy and cowgirl), a proud culture filled with ordinary Mexican Americans who suit up on the weekends to compete in this tough and often dangerous sport.

This work has been recognized by National Geographic and has won awards with The Smithsonian and Creative Quarterly. The Charreada Series is being offered exclusively through the Catherine Edelman Gallery.
