Wood-turning technology is often labeled as kitch by laics as well as professional designers. Ironically, since solid wood furniture and carpentry shaped by turning are an integral part of every Croatian / Yugoslav home and collective memory of people from this region.
The idea of the project was to create a system of objects that uses traditional turning technology in it's own, but a different way - like a Rotate program command - and achieves new, unexpected results and forms.
The goal is an authentic and autochthonous Croatian design that accepts its own tradition, culture and collective memory - without impinging on and referring to dominant foreign trends and narratives in design - aware of its own identity, narrative and strength.
