Dissertation - The need of a clean image
within my dissertation “The need of a clean image” I did an in depth research about visual perception and the use of the gestalt psychology and their principles in modern society to improve graphic communication.
In a world which is getting more complex each day we tend to seek simplicity and order. This is also relevant to graphic design and advertising. How do we perceive visual information and how do our brains tend to organise visual data into a meaningful, cohesively and usable unified whole? It is a result of complex interactions between prior knowledge, goals and expectations. Max Wertheimer one of the founders of the Gestalt psychology concluded that the mental life consists of structured holes instead of the sensations. This then became the key idea behind the theory of gestalt psychology which he and his colleagues developed.
