Gourd Sculptures

The fear of snakes has been deeply entrenched in our Western psyche since "man's fall from grace" in the Garden of Eden. For centuries, snakes have figured prominently in the religions, customs and folklore of many cultures. Their portrayal in mythology has been both mysterious and ambivalent. They have been accursed and at the same time worshipped, yet they are still relegated to the "darker side" of our collective conscious.
Below, you will see them in a different perspective, artistically interpreted to elicit not thoughts of fear, but thoughts of beauty and intrigue. These sculptures reflect the results of the painstaking detailing that can be achieved by use of a Sharpie pen and a creative mind.
