10 Decades Of Glam - And The Women Who Pulled It Off

Makeup. How did it relate to different periods of time and what did it mean to the women who used it? What popular trends and products have surfaced over the years in reaction to developing culture? This book explores the makeup, and also the women who wore it, from the past 100 years.

The coloured pages focus on the women, in contrast to the plain pages which are dedicated purely to the makeup products. Allowing the reader to easily navigate through the book - or go off on a creative tangent. Delve into the trends of the past certain century and indulge yourself in cosmetic inspiration with this limited edition book.
My project has centred around the history of women in western culture and how this has adapted to changes in our society e.g. war periods, social movements and the influence of popular celebrities. I have explored the cosmetic industry in the context of women’s history and how they have influenced each other, developed alongside each other and even synchronised. I have attempted to convey this story via the use of visual language, to avoid the reader relying on the text itself.
