AN ARTIST'S TOOLBOX
- Devices of the Past -
My grandfather was an architect and artist in the 1950's and 60's. After he passed away in 2009 I inherited a small and very unorganized green tool-box. As I finally came around to sorting through the tool-box, I realized that what I had was a time capsule of art tools - devices of an artist's past. I sorted the array of items and became intrigued, fascinated , and impressed by the design, creation, and production of everyday objects artists used six to seven decades ago. Some items familiar, some foreign, and some only centimeters long all displayed intricate and characteristically vintage design. I created this photographic collection to showcase these items so that artists today could see and connect with art and artists of the past.
