How to Cook Everything - Mobile Application

The app is a cooking app provides cooking
Guidance, find recipes, kitchen techniques and equipments, and meal planning ideas
as well as ingredient information.

The app also allows users to print recipes and add the ingredients to the shopping lists.

Problem
The app has a lot of issues that doesn’t quite fit the spectrum of today’s modern technology. The app looks very unobtrusive and it looks like it came straight out of his cookbook just text and no images.

The app lacked several things:
Hierarchy
Typography
Grid Structure
Format and Layout
No Visual Images

Challenges
The most challenging thing was that the duration of the project was too short and there was not enough time to reiterate the prototypes and get more feedback. The project was very quick and fast-paced, but overall I think the final result came out very good and I learned how to create fast mockups and prototypes.

Another challenge I faced was executing my ideas quickly and coming up with lots of them in a short amount of time.

Design Approach
I approached my design using cards with images/text on it to show what the final (dish) product looks like and name of the dish. On the very top of the pages, I added images on the top of each page to showcase the current popular/hot dishes. The Search/Filter gives user’s many options and categories to help user’s optimize their search if they want something specific. The Recipe page allows the user to select the ingredients they need and add to shopping list if needed in order to purchase the ingredients. Finally as you scroll on the Direction page, it will highlight and tell you which step you are on and everything else will be greyed out for better readability.
