Disco Headphone

Disco by Kuba
-

Disco is the first Brazilian-made headphone to meet the highest international quality standards. Launched in 2016 by Kuba, the product was developed in a way that it could be entirely manufactured in Brazil.

The main problem we wanted to tackle with Disco was the pain common to every headset owner: the (unnecessarily short) lifetime of the product. In partnership with MindTheHeadphone (Brazil's largest blog about the subject) and with the data acquired through its 10 years of existence, we found out that an on-ear headphone lifespan can usually be decades longer that the market's average.

So we designed an easily-replaceable parts system that allows the headphone to have an outstanding lifetime.
Each part of it can be change independently, from the leather cushions to the wood headband, which is handmade in Rio de Janeiro city.

As one of the Co-Founders and Lead Desginer at Kuba for over three years, I was responsible and took part in the ideation and fullfilment of a vast array of products: from the Disco headphone to points-of-sale, packaging and display.

The headphone was one of the featured pieces at the Rio Design Week 2016. It also appeared on some of the most important technology and trends related magazines of Brazil.

Designed in partnership with the talented friends Leonardo Drummond and Duda Vieira.
