From left to right: 1st is the clay prototype model, 2nd is the 3d printed model, 3rd is the reworked 3d printed model preparing the finish.
Shows testing color variations for the cast birds. The birds were 3d modeled, 3d printed, primed, painted and sanding to a smooth finish. Made the molds, colored the resin and cast the parts. Additional colors were hand painted with enamel paints. Used different painting techniques to determine best painting method and to help finalize the design.

Also working on a double light switch plate design that would use two birds. The above images shows a traditional light switch plate, shown in black outline, along with new design shown in light green.
Above shows a render of the 3d model I made, textured and lighted. Below image shows a modification to the birdhouse. Notice the back area has a 90 degree flair that frames the house and adds extra strength to the part. That was a good decision.
The following shows pictures i took using a light box I built. These photos also show the new faceplate. These faceplates are created by vacuum forming Acrylic over the 3D designed MDF form. The acrylic is then backpainted with enamel paints and the part is trimmed clean with a laser, as well as cutting the screw holes and hole for the bird.
The curved edge along the back, adds extra strength to the faceplate. I have really enjoyed designing and creating this product. Will have the opportunity to create more ads and oversee production, as the product is made available to the public in December 2018.
