For my final project in the course Introduction to Urban Data Analytics, I explored the spatial relationship between tech shuttle stops and eviction in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was interested in two questions: (1) What is the spatial relationship between tech shuttle spots and eviction? (2) How do tech shuttles change the way people search for and advertise rental units in San Francisco?

I explore these questions through a variety of methods and data sources, including web scraping, language processing, and spatial analysis, in an attempt to gain a more comprehensive and substantiated view of the intersections between tech shuttles and displacement.
Below are a few maps pulled from my final report. To see the full detailed methods and findings, email me at evaphillips@berkeley.edu.

Maps illustrating patterns of eviction in relation to tech shuttles and public transportation stops.
Example of Craigslist ads mentioning tech and tech shuttles. I web scraped Craigslist for one month and analyzed post which advertised proximity to tech shuttles or directly targeted tenants who worked in the tech industry.
