Through my work I highlight the aspects of the environments we inhabit that are frequently overlooked in the daily routine of modern life. I seek to make visually appealing translations between the organic human element and the temporality of our creations. Palimpsests are both geological and social occurrences where something that once was is repurposed but leaves behind elements of its past iterations. Chicago was once a center of manufacturing for the country, it is now the rust belt as society progressed that era. In my exploration of these places where progress has been paused I can re-create these spaces and experience them as they were. 

For this project I chose an abandoned factory, I gathered blueprints from the factory and restored/vectorized them; I then gathered aproximate sounds for each of the mechenes from the blueprints to create a soundscape of what a room might have sounded like. I brodcast this audio track from a handmade radio transmitter created and milled from illustrator. These brodcasts were scattered throughout the factory for me to walk through with a radio tuned to their station and a 360 VR camera to capture the experiment. I then hung laser etched wood cutouts created from the vectorized blueprints around the factory to serve as triggers for augumented 3D interprtations of each piece to appear in the video.
