For this project, my group came up with an innovative, new design for canned food packaging. We noticed that the traditional steel can was difficult to open, didn't have a built-in draining mechanism, and weren't resealable. This created problems if you didn't have a can opener to open it. The jagged metal created when opening the can was also a safety hazard. It was messy to drain the liquid out of the can, and it created food waste if the food went bad because you couldn't eat it all in one sitting.
The new design that we came up with has an easy-to-open pull tab, a rotating mechanism that allowed for draining and resealing of the can. The shorter, flatter shape saves on pantry space because the can is able to be stacked without taking up as much vertical space as a traditional can.

My role in the group was the designer, so I made all of the graphics for the can. We really wanted to showcase the innovation of the new design, so that became the main focus of the graphics. On the side, I included a "How It Works" section to explain the new mechanism.
Here is an inside look of the turning/sealing mechanism.
The raised bottom panel allows the cans to fit snugly on top of each other. Our design also allows for different sizes of cans.
