D4E1 : Marble Painter
The purpose of the assignment is to design and create a device that facilitates the crafting of children with a type 2 dissability. Type 2 means that these children have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities.
Because of this they have difficulties to perform normal operations such as grabbing and turning things. The aim of the "Artmaker" is thus to make these actions as easy as possible so their creativity can be fully used again, which is a very important aspect for them!
The Marble painter is a reinvented screen printing system that is driven by a rod mechanism which in turn is connected to a bicycle. The smear of the paint is done using marbles dipped in paint.
When the user starts to pedal, the mechanism is driven and the marbles (together with the paint) are moved away. Result is a pattern transferred to the piece of textile.
