Short Fiction
'IN BETWEEN'
A 14 minute fiction film. The following film was made as a part of a classroom project in my second year of film studies at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The Budget for the same was INR 7000 and the required equipment was provided to us by the institute on 4 assigned shoot days. The entire process from scripting to exporting the final cut took approximately 2 months.
Synopsis
In an age of skepticism, it’s become our habit to assume the worst about someone before we learn the best. Set in the modern day Gujarat, with a backdrop of riots influenced by the 2002 Gujarat Riots and what supposedly caused it, ‘In Between’ is a 14 minute short film based on a midnight encounter between a seemingly ‘creepy’ cab driver and a modern day well-to-do passenger. Eventually what comes out of their conversations results in bizarre emotions and supposed peculiar events enroute. ‘In Between’ brings out the hypocrisy people hold on to in terms of ‘religion’ sans a happy ending.
