This image just came to me the other night. I remember seeing this film for the first time as a 6 year old kid and watching April sketch the turtles in the movie made me want to become good at drawing.
So now we are full circle with me creating my version of the same subject as her.

As always I started off by sketching him up on recycled paper (that I buy in Kmart) using my blue pen from Pilot.
After that I chose to not draw up lines like I normally do but started blocking in the base colors using my new markers from RenoArt. They are really good markers and very cheap! I get them from the Basement Bookstore.
Then I start layering in the shades using my limited supply of Cool Gray copic markers.
After I’ve gotten a solid lighting going I used my brown multiliners from Copic to add texture and volume.
Then I blend the shades some more and start adding in the light sources using a white Faber Castell pen and finish it all off with a white gelly roll pen from Sakura.
When I finished working on Leo I thought it looked a little too empty so I added the background and rough frame to give him more of my identity.
Thank you for all your support!
Leo
